HOT ISSUE! Universal Pre-K
State and Federal policy about universal pre-kindergarten for threes and fours is a serious issue to the early education and care community. Done right, universal pre-k offers opportunities. Done wrong (without including community based resources), universal pre-k could result in fee increases and capacity reductions for infants and toddlers. Market Rate
NCCA, in collaboration with several provider organizations, continues to advocate for a market rate to be paid for subsidized child care.
CACFP
NCCA members had a major victory recently when the "free and reduced" provisions in the appropriations bill finally became permanent! This means that all private centers (both for-profit and non-profit) can participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program if 25% of the children enrolled qualify for free and reduced lunches. NCCA has fought for this fair treatment for several years. It will be tremendously important to all members who are striving to serve lower income children. A thank-you is in order to our Government Relations team in Washington, our Government Relations Committee, and the many members who rallied to the cause when letter writing was so important.
CCDBG Reauthorization
NCCA will follow the development of the CCDBG Reauthorization closely on behalf of its membership. We are especially interested in issues such as market rate, compensation and benefit assistance, quality improvements and of course, providing quality care for more children.
